Hollywood Gossip | Gerard Depardieu bashes Juliette Binoche

Juliette Binoche might be an Academy Award winner for her supporting actress role in THE ENGLISH PATIENT (which I personally find to be one of the longest, most bloated and least warranted Best Picture winner in Academy history ever - which had the only saving grace of Binoche in the film), but apparently that isn't good enough for the star of MY FATHER, THE HERO & LAST HOLIDAY.

Gerard Depardieu recently bashed the French actress in an interview with Austrian magazine, Profil. Says Monsieur Nez, "Please can you explain to me what the secret of this actress is meant to be? I would really like to know why she has been so esteemed for so many years. She has nothing. Absolutely nothing! Compared with her, Isabelle Adjani is great even if she's totally nuts. Or Fanny Ardant -- she is magnificent, extremely impressive. But Binoche? What has she ever had going for her?"

Whoa. You'd think that 16 years apart from Katherine Heigl would have worn the bitchiness off a person. I like Depardieu enough but mainly from the film that most chicks refer back to, GREEN CARD. (Hey, it was a funny flick.) And I don't subscribe to the stereotyping of the French that most Americans complain about, so I don't think this is spawned from there. Most people are theorizing that the actor is in a tizzy because he didn't think Binoche deserved to win the Best Actress award from the Cannes Film Festival for her work in CERTIFIED COPY.
